The snowmobile safari winter adventure goes through the valley of Finn, to the lake of Tamok, a distance of 30 km one way. At the lake you can try out ice fishing. You will be driving in pairs, one driver and one passenger on each snowmobile, with opportunity to switch places half way. A thorough safety introduction will take place ahead of starting up. Due to the dramatic topography reduced speed is held during parts of the tour. On flat land and frozen lakes you can speed up. A hot meal will be served during the adventure. The snowmobile safari winter adventure can be booked as either a daytime or an evening trip.
We pick you up on our bus or minibus in the town centre of Tromsø, by the hotel Rica. The town centre is very compact, so you will easily find the pick up point. We then transport you a 75 minute drive out in the wilderness, to our Camp Tamok. The camp consists of Sami tents and a timber cabin. This is the starting and ending point of your excursion.
Planning tip: If you book this winter adventure as a daytime activity in combination with an activity in the evening, you will be able to spend relaxing time in Camp Tamok between the two adventures. Relax by the fire in the lavvo and enjoy a drink of coffee or tea.

Tip:
Did you know that April is the most common winter month for outdoors activities in northern Norway? April is the time when the locals do most of their outdoor winter activities. During April the daylight above the arctic circle is rapidly extending until there is 24 hours of light (no night darkness). The higher sun and lighted nights gives milder winter temperatures. At the same time the snow depth is often at its maximum in April, the peak of the winter. This combination gives the best conditions for many kinds of winter excursions. We of course provide winter adventures in April (except northern lights sightings). Try out winter adventures with extreme daylight and comfortable temperatures. It is a very charming experience.
Tip:
Did you know that in our area you can not see the sun from middle of November until the end of January? In the middle of this period, the sun is below the horizon 24 hours, even at its peak. The dark period is a phenomenon found only north of the northern arctic circle, and south of the southern arctic circle. This does not mean that it is complete darkness. The short day holds a misty daylight. A bit similar to light for some time before sunrise. This misty light in combination with the dramatic white landscape gives a magical atmosphere. The areas with dark time during the winter have a similar period of midnight sun in the summer, when the sun stays above the horizon 24 hours.
