Sauna & Hot Tub PDF Print E-mail
Our Sauna and hot tub facilities are located in Camp Tamok, our wilderness camp outside Tromsø. We provide an outdoor sauna, and a hot tub suitable for up to 20 guests, both heated with wood stoves. Spend also your time in one of our big Lavvos (Sami tents) for social gathering around the open fire, where you will be served a hot meal. There are wardrobe and toilet facilities, separate for men and women. Also check out our timber cabin. Enjoy the comfort and contrasts of our outdoor facilities. In the cold winter in the wilderness, there is no place better to be than in an outside hot tub.

Tip:
Did you know that April is the most common winter month for outdoors activities in northern Norway? April is the time when the locals do most of their outdoor winter activities. During April the daylight above the arctic circle is rapidly extending until there is 24 hours of light (no night darkness). The higher sun and lighted nights gives milder winter temperatures. At the same time the snow depth is often at its maximum in April, the peak of the winter.  This combination gives the best conditions for many kinds of winter excursions. We of course provide winter adventures in April (except northern lights sightings). Try out winter adventures with extreme daylight and comfortable temperatures. It is a very charming experience.

Tip:
Did you know that in our area you can not see the Sun from middle of November until the end of January? In the middle of this period, the Sun is below the horizon 24 hours, even at its peak. The dark period is a phenomenon found only north of the northern arctic circle, and south of the southern arctic circle. This does not mean that it is complete darkness. The short day holds a misty daylight, not unlike what one might experience just before sunrise or after sunset (twilight). This misty light in combination with the dramatic white landscape provides a magical atmosphere. The areas with dark time during the winter have a similar period of midnight Sun in the summer, when the Sun stays above the horizon 24 hours.
