On this exciting yet relaxing overnight tour, we have selected activities that provide a genuine Arctic wintertime experience. We start with a Northern Lights evening and, after spending a cosy night in your private Aurora Chalet, it is time for a dog sledding adventure between snow-covered mountains. This adventure will require some physical effort, so it is an ideal choice if you feel energetic and ready to participate.
This package allows you to experience the unique late evening atmosphere at Camp Tamok. Our guides and hosts will ensure you feel comfortable and welcome and, if you are lucky, you will experience the Northern Lights in the wilderness.
Highlights: scenic transfers, Northern Lights visit, dog sledding, overnight stay in the Aurora Chalet and hot meals
Upon arrival at Camp Tamok, we will provide warm winter gear. During the Northern Lights evening, we will provide thorough presentation about the Aurora Borealis and how to photograph this natural phenomenon. We will also serve a hot meal in a traditional North Norwegian setting around the open fire. If the sky is starry at Camp Tamok, we will take you on a short hike near our wilderness centre to stay warm and experience different settings to photograph the Northern Lights. However, if it is cloudy but there are better conditions in the neighbouring valley, our guide will drive you to another spot to try to spot the Northern Lights.
You can relax by the campfire before it is time to say good night and head to your accommodation in the Aurora Chalet. The Aurora Chalet is our most private guest accommodation. The small cabin has no running water, but it is heated and has one important detail: one of the roof sides has a window placed in the direction of the Northern Lights. Your double bed is placed right under this window, at a perfect angle for watching the lights! Our experienced guides will take care of you, so you feel safe and comfortable at all times.
After waking up, enjoying scenic views of the wilderness and eating breakfast, your guide will provide safety instructions and a practical demonstration of how to mush your husky team. You will share the sled with your partner: You will be the “musher” (driver) half the way and can sit back and encourage your partner the rest of the way. Depending on snow conditions, we will spend approx. 1 hr 30 min to complete the 10 km dog sledding.
After the dog sledding adventure, we will serve you a hot meal in a traditional North Norwegian setting around the open fire. You can relax, warm up and reflect on an adventurous time before heading back to Tromso.
