On this exciting overnight tour, we have selected activities that will keep you active and involved. We start with snowmobiling on the first evening and, after spending a relaxing night at the Wilderness cabin, you can “mush” a dog team between snow-covered mountains. This adventure will require some physical effort, so it is an ideal choice if you feel energetic and ready to participate.
This package allows you to experience the unique late evening atmosphere at Camp Tamok. Our guides and hosts will ensure you feel comfortable and welcome and, if you are lucky, you will experience the Northern Lights in the wilderness.
Highlights: scenic transfers, snowmobiling, dog sledding, overnight stay in Wilderness cabin, and hot meals
Upon arrival at Camp Tamok, we dress in warm winter gear and begin the adventure with thorough safety instructions and a practical demonstration. It is then time to follow our 11 km snowmobile ice fishing track that leads you between the snow-covered mountains up to a frozen lake. Lake Finn marks the halfway point of our snowmobiling adventure and is a good place to take photos, play in the snow and try some ice fishing, if time and weather conditions permit. You will drive in pairs with one driver and one passenger per snowmobile and plenty of opportunities to switch places during the two-hour snowmobiling adventure.
After driving back down the trail and parking the snowmobiles, we will serve you a hot meal in a traditional North Norwegian setting around the open fire in a reindeer herder’s tent. This is a great place to relax before heading to your accommodation in the Wilderness cabin. The cabin has four private bedrooms and a combined capacity of eight guests. Staying in the cabin can be very social, as you can expect to meet and get to know other guests from all over the world. There is a fireplace in the living room to keep you warm while enjoying the company of your fellow travellers.
Our experienced guides will take care of you, so you feel safe and comfortable at all times.
After waking up, enjoying scenic views of the wilderness and eating breakfast, your guide will provide safety instructions and a practical demonstration of how to mush your husky team. Two people share each sled and dog team. One is the “musher” (driver) and the other can sit back and enjoy the ride. You can switch places midway or at any time during the 12 km dog sledding trail. Depending on snow conditions, we will spend approx. 1 hr 30 min to complete the trail.
After the dog sledding adventure, we will serve you a hot meal in a traditional North Norwegian setting around the open fire. You can relax, warm up and reflect on an adventurous time before heading back to Tromso.
