In wintertime Camp Tamok is the starting point for many excursions by dog sled, snowmobile and reindeer sled. The trails will lead you into an Arctic wilderness with no signs of human activity. The camp’s large lavvus are where the hot meals are served after your excursion.
At a 90-minute drive from Tromsø, Camp Tamok is located in an area with a different and drier climate zone, with clear inland mountain weather. The dry climate generates many cloud-free night skies in winter creating optimal conditions to witness the Northern Lights!

Camp Tamok is exclusively build as wilderness camp for Lyngsfjord Adventure.
We have found a fair balance between comfort and authenticity. Our camp is composed of traditional and rustic Northern Norwegian buildings consisting of several lavvus, timber cabins heated by wood stoves, complementing with showers and toilet facilities.
We have found the perfect location with the wilderness at our doorstep.
Our husky kennel and reindeer enclosure is the mark to step into the uninhabited winter wonderland.

Aurora Chalet
The Aurora Chalet is our private accommodation for two guests. One of the roof sides has a window with a bed placed right under the window, at a perfect angle for watching the Northern Lights! The cabin has electricity but no running water.
Char Cabin
The Char Cabin is a private cabin located about 100m from the camp. It is perfect for 2-4 people, and has everything a proper timber cabin should, including a loft where you will sleep. The cabin are heated by a fireplace but has no running water.
Arctic Glamping
The Arctic Glamping is a private accommodation for two guests. The dome has a window with a perfect view of the scenery, located on the edge of the river, and a perfect angle for watching the Northern Lights!
The dome offers all basic comforts except for running water. They are heated with a heating pump and a wood stove, useful when overnight temperatures can drop to minus degrees.
